Overview

Every job within a school district is important! An HES custodian plays an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of school facilities, ensuring every school day runs smoothly and students can focus on learning. In addition to regular building maintenance functions, the school custodian provides direct support to classroom teachers in set up and maintenance of furniture and equipment.

Job Skills / Requirements

The Lead Custodians are responsible form supervisory and routine custodial activities at an assigned university or facility to maintain buildings. Initiative and judgment involved in assigning tasks, delegating authority, and resolving problems. Evaluates problems and makes recommendations to the Supervisor and Assistant Director.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push and pull.

· Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, more pounds on an occasional basis.

· Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing

· Follows all safety requirements and procedures at all times

· Performs other duties as assigned

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Possess strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills. Be able to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.

· Plan, implement, oversee and participate in the custodial activities that are assigned. Maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.

· Train and provide work direction to assigned employees; assign and review the work of others.

· Clean classrooms, restroom, showers, locker rooms, offices and related facilities as assigned; sweep, mop and clean floors as assigned; spot mop spills and remove gum and debris. Clean and disinfect drinking fountains, sinks, toilets, showers and urinals; clean mirrors, tile and windows.

· Report safety hazards to appropriate authority; report and recommend need for maintenance repairs to appropriate authority; maintain security of buildings; report suspicious or unauthorized individuals on campus.

· Possess considerable knowledge of the operation, use and care of vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines and general house-keeping equipment.

· Follow established safety precautions including PPE for cleaning and maintaining all areas of the facility.

Minimum Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: High school degree preferred, but not required.

Experience: Previous cleaning experience is required.

Physical and Working Conditions

Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push and pull.

Ability to lift up-to 30 lbs.

Must have enough mobility to perform assigned tasks with production and service time frames as established by the company.

Ability to work with various temperatures extreme from hot to cold.
