Site Description

The World Exchange Plaza is a triple “A” office complex, prominently located in Ottawa’s downtown financial core, just steps from Parliament Hill. Encompassing an entire city block, the complex measures over 670,000 square feet and is comprised of two office towers, a three-level retail concourse (which connects the two towers), an underground parkade for 1,100 vehicles, and an outdoor Amphitheatre for informal gatherings.

Hours:Continental Rotation - 0700-1900/1900-0700
Payrate:$19.50/hour

  • Week 1 - 0700-1900 - Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat (4 days)
  • Week 2 - 0700-1900 - Sun, Wed, Thu (3 days)
  • Week 3 - 1900-0700 - Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat (4 days)
  • Week 4 1900-0700 - Sun, Wed, Thu (3 days)

Working on a rotating continental schedule, you will provide proactive and reactive security patrols and response to incidents.  You will be required to write reports and investigate routine incidents, as well as respond to emergencies in a quick and efficient manner.   

Job Description:

  • General Tower & Parking Lot Patrols
  • Report Writing
  • Note Taking
  • On the fly Problem Solving
  • High Customer Service
  • Lock Ups and Unlocks
  • Responding to assistance requests from the Clients and Retail Clients
  • Ensure the safety and Security of the General Public on the property
  • Assist General Public with Directions within the building
  • Assisting Tenants and the Public with information inquires
  • Signing in and out Contractors
  • Assisting Tenants and the Public with use of the Wheelchair Access Lift
  • Closing the Desk down for the evening returning certain building equipment to the Control Center at 19:00
  • Assisting the Public with information inquiries
  • Patrolling the Retail Section (four levels)
  • Patrolling the Parking Garage (five levels)
  • Crosstraining on all roles (Patroller, Operator, etc.)
    • Experience in CCTV monitoring, alarm monitoring, fire panels/systems is considered an asset
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.    
  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License
  • Valid First Aid/CPR - Level C certification (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
  • Proof of (minimum) double COVID-19 vaccination
  • Able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Minimum 3 years security experience required, or 1 year of demonstrated Security Supervision experience
  • Demonstrates superior customer service skills and able to work independently
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
  • Able to complete ongoing training as directed by the Site Manager or Client Service Manager
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)
    • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
    • Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite, however Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6 month commitment to the position/availability
