GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Under occasional supervision, directs, oversees, plans, schedules and coordinates work activities and functions of assigned programs and personnel. Is directly responsible for managing the corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities and programs for the Waste Water Treatment Department. As assigned, assumes role of project manager or project liaison for Department Projects. Reports to the Facilities Maintenance Manager.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Coordinates daily work activities including emergency work activities; organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; confers with department staff, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise to assigned staff and department leadership.
  2. Monitors performance of assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, maintaining personnel event logs, coaching and counseling, conducting employee performance appraisals and initiating and implementing disciplinary actions when needed in collaboration with the Facilities Maintenance
  3. Manages the CMMS database for the Department and utilizes the database to generate reports of maintenance activities and expenditures. Ensures that CMMS database is up to date and accurately/appropriately populated with necessary Manages and updates the Asset Management Program for the Waste Water Treatment Department and provides reports to Department leadership for scheduling/budgeting of asset rehabilitation, repair or replacement.
  4. Assist Facilities Maintenance Manager in development and oversight of budget for assigned areas ensuring adherence to budgetary requirements and procurement guidelines. Continuously reviews expenditures and implements procurement, process and spending strategies for immediate and long term
  5. Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations. Establishes new or revised procedures as necessary to ensure that all operational goals are being met. Provides training in areas of expertise to all department staff as needed.
  6. Assist the Department Manager in establishing departmental goals. Develops sectional goals and appropriate measures/indicators necessary to support the success of the Spartanburg Water Strategic Assists in the communication of goals to staff and the assessment of the department in achieving established goals.

Continuously assists the Department Manager in assessing department needs for staffing, development, training, process optimization, compliance enhancement, equipment replacement, capital expenditures and revenue generation. Assists in development of cost analysis, return on investment, and other support information for the formulation, approval and implementation of proposals to meet department goals and

Oversees safety and security program for assigned areas of responsibility following all established procedures and Makes recommendations for improvements of programs and establishes procedures as necessary. Provides adequate training for all department staff to ensure safe and secure work environment.
  13. Receives and/or generates a variety of documents, forms, reports, correspondence, distribution map sheets, blueprints, permits, work orders, accident reports, requisition forms, schedules, maintenance reports, vehicle inspection forms, safety observation forms, confined space forms, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as
  14. Maintains an awareness of new products, technologies, trends, and advances in the profession; reads professional manuals and publications to increase knowledge; attends conferences, workshops, and training sessions as appropriate. Conveys knowledge to assigned technicians.

Operates, utilizes and trains on the use of an assortment of equipment, computers, machinery and tools including a pick-up truck, golf cart, calculator, ladders, gasoline generator, fork lift, and various hand tools and diagnostic equipment; ensures that reporting technicians are provided with necessary tools and

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

An Associate degree in Industrial Electronics Technology, a Journeyman's Electrical or Plumbers license or equivalent vocational or technical school training in mechanical, electrical and electronic related areas and a minimum of four years of experience in water/wastewater maintenance and construction, mechanical, electrical and/or instrumentation maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR Certification.
