Special Police Officer (SPO) Duties and Responsibilities

Our Special Police Officers (SPOs) are responsible for providing quality physical security and maintaining a safe and secure environment at the client site.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 5 years of armed DC Special Police Officer (SPO) work experience.
• Must have a verifiable, positive work history.
• Candidates must be able to provide verifiable employment history demonstrating satisfactory performance in armed SPO positions.
• Must be able to perform all duties in accordance with applicable Post Orders, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and client requirements.

Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To:

• Following prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for routine and emergency responses.
• Liaising with security personnel and building management to communicate, escalate, and resolve issues effectively.
• Creating detailed and accurate reports documenting building activity, incidents, and other relevant observations.
• Patrolling the interior and exterior of the contract site to identify and address security concerns.
• Performing all duties in accordance with established Post Orders and client requirements.
• Controlling and restricting access to the property in accordance with site policies and procedures.
• Responding to major occurrences with intelligence, speed, accuracy, and sound judgment.
• Maintaining a professional presence while providing courteous and responsive service to clients, employees, visitors, and authorized personnel.

Education Requirements (All)

High school diploma or equivalent

Certification Requirements (All)

DCSPO Armed
CPR/AED
MEB (Monadnock Expandable Baton) Plus Handcuffing Certification
CPR/FA
