This role ensures that all school facilities—including gymnasiums, cafeterias, auditoriums, and outdoor fields—are safely and accurately prepared according to event plans, blueprints, and district safety standards.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Physical Setup & Breakdown:
    • Transport, arrange, and secure tables, chairs, stages, podiums, stanchions, and bleachers according to assigned layouts.
    • Efficiently break down equipment immediately following events, returning all items to their proper storage locations.
  • Facility Preparation & Presentation:
    • Ensure all event spaces are clean, organized, and presentable before guests, students, and staff arrive.
    • Perform light custodial duties related to events, such as emptying trash receptacles, wiping down tables, and sweeping floors post-event.
  • Athletic & Specialized Event Support:
    • Set up sports equipment for middle and high school games.
    • Prepare auditoriums and stages for fine arts performances, graduation ceremonies, and parent-teacher nights.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Inspect all event equipment prior to use to ensure it is in safe, working condition; report damaged items to management.
    • Maintain clear fire lanes and emergency exit pathways when arranging seating and equipment.
  • Logistics & Communication:
    • Review weekly event calendars and coordinate with school administrators, athletic directors, or external organizers to confirm layout requirements.
    • Safely load, unload, and operate delivery vehicles or moving equipment to transport items between campuses.

Position Requirements

  • Experience: Previous experience in warehouse logistics, event staging, moving services, or commercial custodial work is highly valued.
  • Physical Stamina & Strength:
    • Must be able to continuously lift, push, pull, and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. independently (and heavier loads with assistance).
    • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach overhead, and climb ladders for extended periods during an 8-hour shift.
  • Transportation & Scheduling:
    • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record (if driving district vehicles between campuses).
    • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends based on the school's event schedule.
  • Clearance & Background Check: Must successfully pass a comprehensive criminal background check, fingerprinting, and drug screening as required by state law for employees working around minors.

Key Skills & Core Competencies

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately read floor plans, diagrams, and instruction manuals to execute exact layout designs.
  • Reliability & Punctuality: Crucial for ensuring events start on time without operational delays.
  • Teamwork & Professionalism: Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of custodians, teachers, coaches, and administrators while maintaining a polite demeanor.
