Yard Driver Job Responsibilities:
- The yard driver operator will have direct responsibility for correctly and safely operating the yard equipment within the mill.
- Perform daily checklist before operating yard truck and lift trucks.
- Reports all equipment issues or concerns immediately on checklist and to the supervisor.
- Safely and efficiently move trailers within the warehouse yard to and from dock doors as directed by the supervisor.
- Clean all trailers by blowing them out prior to placing them at the dock.
- Inspect all trailers for holes prior to placing them at the dock.
- Choke one wheel on all trailers after placing them into the dock.
- Place jack stand under trailers after placing them at the dock.
- Prepare the oncoming shift with the docks being set up.
- Unload raw material in the warehouse.
- Verifies documented information when unloading trucks
- Interact professionally and in a courteous manner with all truck drivers and other personnel.
- Pulling production from the conveyor lines and bay locating it.
- Working inside the warehouse to correct any issues inside the bays.
- Assist in wrapping rolls for shipments.
- Follow all safety guidelines and all issues in a timely manner and to the satisfaction
- Representing LACOSTA in a professional, reliable and integrity based manner at all times.
- Identify and improve upon opportunities to increase the efficiencies and productivity of operations
- Actively participate in correct and complete tie out communications with incoming shift change.
Qualifications:
- Must have CDL and Medical Card
- Experience with operating yard equipment and tractor trailers are required.
- Must complete required training (General Mill Guidelines, Hazard Recognition, Lift truck training, PPE).
- Must meet all safety expectations and guidelines.
- Must perform necessary housekeeping tasks for assigned area.
- Ensure that all production needs are planned for and met.
- Ability to read and analyze information
- Adept to handling multiple complex tasks simultaneously
- Profieciency with prioritizing and meeting multiple deadlines
- Excellent time management
Essential Functions:
- Ability to wear required PPE (Ear plugs, Hi-Vis Safety Vest, Safety glasses, steel toe safety shoes, and hard hats (If required) for entire 12 hour shift.
- Must be able to constantly switch from standing/sitting.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work 12 hour shifts on rotating days Tues, Wed, Sat, Sun, Mon
Day Shift 6 AM-6 PM

Starting Pay is $17.50 an hour and we pay weekly!
