Job Skills / Requirements
Job Summary/Purpose
Responsible for processing all filing, accounting, and bookkeeping functions as necessary. Receives new prescriptions from customers for filling. Counts tablets/capsules or pour liquids in appropriate quantities.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
· Verifies patient name, date of birth, prescriber, and address of the person for whom the prescription is to be filled
· Obtains drug name or RX number of the prescription(s) that needs to be refilled from patient.
· Enters appropriate information into the computer to generate labels for the prescription.
· Retrieves appropriate medication from stock.
· Counts tablets/capsules or pour liquids in appropriate quantities
· Place medication(s) in appropriate container(s) and affix prescription labels.
· Assists pharmacists in preparing and reconstituting medications
· Answers/directs telephone calls to the pharmacists.
· Enters appropriate information in system to process electronic third-party claims for payment by insurance companies for prescriptions.
· Assist pharmacists by re-ordering items for both prescription and over-the-counter departments, ordering new, short and back-ordered items as needed.
· Manage appropriate inventory.
· Restocking and reordering supplies as necessary.
Role Minimum Qualifications
Required Education
· High school diploma or equivalent
Required Licensure and Certifications -At Hire

Required Licensure and Certifications -Post Hire
-Registered by Kentucky Board of Pharmacy
-Obtain Pharmacy Tech Certification within 6 months
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Computer experience is preferred and must be familiar with filing and performing clerical work.
· Excellent customer service skills.
Preferred Education, Licensure and Certifications
- Prior pharmacy tech experience

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT
Certification Requirements (All)
PTCB preferred, required within 6 months of hire
