Job Skills / Requirements

Job Summary/Purpose

The House Supervisor provides leadership and oversight for hospital operations during non-business hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. This role ensures continuity of care, adequate staffing, patient safety, and coordination of services across all departments. The House Supervisor acts as the on-site administrative representative and resource for clinical and non-clinical staff, addressing urgent operational needs and supporting effective decision-making.

 

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

·         Serve as the administrative liaison for the hospital during assigned shifts.

·         Monitor and manage staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage across departments; adjust staffing as needed based on census and acuity.

·         Respond promptly to and coordinate resolution of patient care, facility, or staffing issues during off-hours.

·         Maintain effective communication with department managers, physicians, patients, and families.

·         Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, including The Joint Commission.

·         Assist with patient flow and bed assignments in collaboration with nursing and admissions teams.

·         Support the implementation of emergency and disaster response protocols when necessary.

·         Provide clinical oversight and mentorship to nursing staff.

·         Serve in a clinical capacity as needed to support departments experiencing short staffing, including assisting with direct patient care when appropriate.

·         Complete documentation, incident reports, and shift summaries accurately and timely.

·         Collaborate with on-call leadership or escalate concerns appropriately.

 

Role Minimum Qualifications

 

Required Education

·         Associate’s degree in nursing

 

Required Licensure and Certifications               – At Hire

 

·         Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kentucky

·         BLS, ACLS, PALS

 

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to solve problems and implement changes effectively

·         Strong critical thinking, multitasking, and communication skills.

·         Ability to lead and support staff in a dynamic, fast-paced hospital environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing (BSN / MSN)

·         Leadership experience

Graduate of an accredited program of nursing

NRP
ACLS
BLS
PALS
TNCC
KY licensed RN
NIHSS, within 3 months of hire
