Job Skills / Requirements

Job Summary:

Responsible for the conversion of diagnosis and treatment procedures into codes utilizing ICD-10-CM and CPT code for outpatient records as assigned. Assists with ambulatory coding for the Rural Health clinics. Maintains confidentiality of information. Requires skill in accurate assignment of code. Ensures that accurate coding is completed timely. Participates in on-going organizational performance improvement.

 

Required Education, Skills, Abilities:

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Coding certification – CCA or CPC, or 2 years experience in ICD-10-CM and CPT coding preferred with requirement to complete and pass the certified coding exam within 2 years
  • Knowledge of CMS, TJC, and other regulatory guidelines and protocol for coding
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians



Certification Requirements (All)

CCA or CPC certification
