Job Skills / Requirements

Job Summary:

Provides advanced life support for emergency medical situations. Duties include assessing the patient and their environment, quickly and efficiently assess a patient’s condition and determine the best course of treatment, administering procedure like CPR and stabilizing patients for transport to the hospital. Transports patients to the hospital, driving emergency vehicles as needed, and completing patient reports after their care. Uses good resolution skills to make sound decisions. Must be able to handle potential high-stress or dangerous situations.


Required Education, Skills, and/or Abilities:

  • Active KY Paramedic license required.
  • Current BLS/CPR, ACLS, and PALS certification required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with no traffic violations and EMS Driver’s training required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology for the English language.
  • Critical thinking skills/Perform critical tasks.
  • Ability to work under stress.
  • Works cooperatively, communicates effectively.
  • Follows oral and written instructions.
