The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department (LFCHD) is an independent public health agency charged with helping Lexington be well since 1904 and proudly nationally accredited since 2014. Vision: The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department is a recognized leader in health promotion, health protection, personal health care and prevention of disease. Mission: The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department will improve the health of the community. In 2014 LFCHD became nationally accredited by the Public Health Accreditation Board. We currently employ a diversified staff of approximately 160 employees.
The Administrative Specialist is full time at 37.5 hours per week. The position pays $14.78 per hour. This position will provide administrative support for the Vital Statistics department for 50% of their time and spend 50% of their time providing back-up administrative support for Infectious Disease, Environmental Health and break/lunch coverage for the reception switchboard when needed. Greets patients, initiates, distributes appropriate forms, answers telephone and routes calls to the appropriate staff and/or takes accurate messages. Process death and birth certificates as instructed by office of Vital Statistics and Registrar. Communicates with deputy registrar staff at other organizations. Provides administrative support to the Infectious Disease and Environmental Health work units by answering telephone calls, assisting walk-in clients, data entry, copying, filing, processing of purchase requisitions, and ordering of supplies.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High school graduate (or GED) plus 2 years experience in administrative support, or an equivalent combination of related training and experience. Word processing (45 wpm) and spreadsheet applications; demonstrated professional verbal and written communication skills.
