The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department is an independent agency under the Kentucky Revised Statutes, charged with the responsibility for public health in Lexington-Fayette County. We are currently seeking a Team Leader responsible for the day to day operations of the Community Health Equity and Education (CHEE) work unit. This position is responsible for staff supervision, program development, day-to-day and yearly planning, and fiscal management of the CHEE department with emphasis on reducing health disparities through coordination and provision of public health educational services. The Team Leader coordinates with all applicable Lexington-Fayette County Health Department staff and resources to ensure department program standards and compliance are maintained.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Will monitor, mentor, and train staff, and promote teambuilding and a positive working environment. Will interview, hire, assign, direct and evaluate performance of staff and conduct discipline as necessary. Will supervise around 10 employees * Plans, operates, evaluates, and manages the community health equity and education activities for the department including tobacco cessation, diabetes prevention and education, heart disease and stroke prevention CARE Collaborative, child care health consultation, maternal child health, community health action teams, CHAT Grant/Health Equity Network collaboration, daycare immunization audits, postponing sexual involvement, Go365, worksite wellness, and physical activity * Utilizes results of a systematic assessment to determine racial and economic health disparities need in Lexington- Fayette County and coordinates the development of plans, along with community coalitions, to address disparities * Prepares and manages annual and mid-year budget for the CHEE work unit. Finds innovative ways to increase efficiency and decrease operating costs. Explores and cultivates grand and fund-raising opportunities.
REQUIREMENTS: Requires 1 year of supervisory experience. Bachelor’s degree in public administration, community development, planning, or social work + 4 yrs related experience; OR Master’s degree + 3 years related experience. Related experience includes a combination of the following: health education; developing and applying strategies to increase program participation; administration of grant/funding sources.
SPECIAL KNOWLKEDGE AND SKILLS: This position requires effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and intermediate computer literacy. Must have an excellent understanding of the health needs of diverse cultures. Must be able to work effectively with diverse cultures.
ADDITIONAL: This position is 40.0 hours per week, with full benefits, Annual salary $55,373. This position is physically located at the Regency Road location.
