Overview of Program:
Northcutt Residential Treatment Center provides a safe, healing environment for boys between the ages of 6 and 12 who are victims of trauma. These children have experienced physical, sexual, and emotional abuse. They have been neglected. They have witnessed the abuse of family members. The innocence of their childhood has been taken from them. As a result of their trauma history, they engage in high-risk behaviors, self-harm, aggressive, defiant, or oppositional behaviors. They exhibit symptoms of anxiety and depression. Without treatment these children are at risk of growing up to experience significant health and mental health effects later in life. We take a multi-disciplinary, individualized approach to teach, encourage and support each boy's healing process to a new way of life.
Northcutt Residential Treatment Center's services are grounded in the philosophy of Trauma-Informed Care, an evidence-based practice which has demonstrated positive outcomes for victims of trauma. Using a multi-disciplinary team approach, we wrap services around the child and family to help them heal, and to transition back to home, school, and the community.
The primary focus of this job is to assess and evaluate client needs for boys between the ages of 6 and 12 as related to service planning efforts to assure that medical and mental health issues are addressed. In addition, this position will follow physicians orders and provide pertinent information to other treatment disciplinary for the progress of clients treatment as well as bring medical concerns and suggestions regarding ongoing treatment and discharge plan to treatment team.
12 hour pool shifts available, 7a-7p and 7p-7a.
Education Requirement: Minimum Practical Nurse Degree.
Other: Minimum of two years direct psychiatric experience. Must also be familiar with all current laws regarding children or have some knowledge.
This position also requires candidates to pass Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training, which requires individuals to be physically capable of sustained, intense exertion. May not have a physical disability or condition that would prevent one from participating in the physical restraint techniques and exercises such as; dropping repeatedly to knees, supporting another adult's weight, twisting and turning.
