This position is for Deck Attendants at the Northeast YMCA’s Calypso Cove waterpark. This is a part-time position with hours available Sunday-Saturday. Various shifts are available from May 11-September 8, 2024. As a key member of the Aquatics team, this position supervises daily pool activities and is responsible for proactive communication and maintaining a safe pool atmosphere to prevent accidents.

 ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Uphold the Mission of the YMCA
  • Provide supervision of guests in aquatics areas and on decks
  • Enforces rules and regulations of the facility, including organized and safe use of the waterpark’s water features
  • Advise management of unsafe conditions.
  • Perform daily pool maintenance duties to ensure facility safety & cleanliness
  • Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving
  • Attends all staff meetings and training as required by the Aquatics’ Director
  • Maintains effective relationships with the members, participants and other staff
  • Work all assigned shifts and/or follow appropriate substitution policies

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to remain alert
  • Work in a wet/humid environment and tolerate contact with chlorine
  • Work outside in varying weather conditions
  • Sit or stand for extended periods
  • Adequate ability to hear noises and distinguish distress signals
  • Continuously scan all areas of the pool with clear vision
  • Communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations
  • Lift 25 pounds
  • Tolerate high noise level

 

STATUS:  Seasonal, Part-time

STARTING SALARY: $10.00 hour
