Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, Assistant Director that will be responsible for established Aquatic operations to include: Lifeguarding, Special Events, and other areas involved in the aquatics program department.  The Assistant Director will assist in the management of programs, facilities and volunteer/staff development in the aquatics arena.

Job Skills / Requirements

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement strategic direction/vision for operations of the aquatic department
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training and supervising all staff including: lifeguards, First Aid/CPR instructors
  • Ensures that all required monthly trainings and drills are completed and recorded
  • Maintains records and prepares reports regarding programs and operations as needed; ensures compliance with all state and county regulations
  • Ensures excellent customer/member service and meet Association standards
  • Develops relationships in the community that have a positive impact on programming and fundraising
  • Ensure safety across all aquatic and program endeavors; lead collaboratively to provide systems that achieve sanitary conditions, safe environments, program excellence, and member service excellence
  • Continue to serve the community with growth of CPR & First Aid program offerings
  • Assist in facilitation and planning monthly staff meetings for Guards
  • Guarding 20 hours per week, Admin work 10 hours per week
  • Must be available 2 nights per week and 1-2 weekends per month

KNOW HOW/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in aquatics and/or recreation preferred
  • Experience working with children and adults
  • Experience supervising and training
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate through multiple generations and formats
  • YMCA Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Over see part-time aquatic staff of approximately 20-40 lifeguards
  • Assist in maintenance of pools and all equipment

STATUS: Part Time, Non-Exempt

STARTING SALARY:  $15.00+/hour based on experience

 

Education Requirements (Any)

Experience in aquatics and/or recreation preferred

Certification Requirements (Any)

YMCA Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred
